Success story of Ntirampeba Annonciate from Rubagabaga
Ntirampeba Annonciate, a woman from Rubagabaga 1, shares her enriching experience with the G50 community. Initially, the group received extensive training on good farming practices and the importance of saving. Recently, they learned how to build fish ponds. It was much harder work than she had anticipated, but despite the challenges, she and the other community members persevered. However, their first attempts at building the ponds failed, and the structures collapsed. This prompted them to adopt new techniques, using more durable materials to ensure the ponds' stability.
It was at this point that AuxFin, recognizing their determination and hard work, decided to support them by providing fish to start with, as well as food to nourish and help them grow. It felt like a dream come true, but the journey wasn't without its hurdles. Shortly after, an unexpected problem arose: the fish contracted a disease. It was a difficult moment for the entire community, but instead of giving up, they reached out to AuxFin for help. True to their partnership, AuxFin intervened quickly, treating the fish and allowing them to get back on track.
The result of their hard work exceeded their expectations. The harvest was impressive, with large fish weighing nearly 3 kg each. Annonciate expresses her immense joy in seeing the harvest, but beyond the abundance of fish, it was the pride of having overcome challenges together, of not giving up in the face of adversity, that left the greatest impact on her.
Today, Annonciate, having gained so much from her experience, eagerly shares her story with other women. She reminds them that fish farming is not just for men. On the contrary, she encourages them to actively participate in the G50 initiatives and unite to build a brighter future for their community.
